TLK2501: When Rx input is lost(VID=0mV), Tx outpus Idle code.

Expert 8760 points
Part Number: TLK2501

Hi team,

My customer observed that TLK2501 Tx outputs an idle code when LCKREFN is high and the Rx input
is lost (VID = 0 mV). The customer asks us whether this behavior is normal.
I think this behavior is normal . Is this correct?  Please let me know.

The customer wants to use TLK2501 only as Tx. So the customer asks us the way to do so.
TLK2501 has transmit only mode (LCKREFN=low). In this mode, can TLK2501 output normal data
even if the Rx input is lost? Please let me know.

  • Hi Fumio,

The TLK2501 is able to be configured in transmit mode since the TX path is independent from the RX path. This device has 2 clocking operating modes: GTX_CLK or RX_CLK. When LCKREFN is asserted low, the device is configured in transmit only mode, hence the RX signals will be in high impedance state. The behavior that you are seeing is normal.
