SN65HVD75: How long is the transmission distance of 20Mbs

Part Number: SN65HVD75

Hi Sirs,

As title

Our cable is CAT-5, data rate is 20M bps.
We would like to know how much length that SN65HVD75/78 can supported??
Thanks!!

  • Hi Shu-Cheng,

thanks for reaching out. Cable length or transmission distance and data rate do have a direct correlation. A long cable attenuates the signals, as well losses increase with frequency - the receiver is not able to understand the message correctly. So a big factor is the characteristics of the cable especially a small capacity is wanted.

For transmission speeds up to 20 Mbps the transmission length is estimated in the range of 30 m to 60 m with a jitter percentage of 5% to 10% whats is likely to be acceptable for most applications. To find out more about jitter please take a look here: /cfs-file/__key/communityserver-discussions-components-files/138/4555.slla375.pdf

Let me know if this is helping you out, don't hesitate to ask further questions!

    Kind regards
