ULN2003A: ULN2003A

Part Number: ULN2003A

When I use ULN2803A to drive the motor, I only need 5V to drive the motor. The current is 300~250mA.However, when I used UNL2003A, it required 5.8V to drive the motor, and the current was the same 300~250mA.Why is that?

  • Hi Wade,

There shouldn't be any difference in the voltage needed to drive your motor from one device to the other. The ULN2003A and ULN2803A have the same VOL spec, and this determines the voltage seen at the output of the device when that channel is turned on. That means the voltage drop across the motor will be the same for both devices. How are you varying the output voltage? Can you measure the output voltage for the ULN2003A and ULN2803A when each is used to drive the motor?

    Thanks,
