We have a 4-slot CPCI backplane.
We have I2C & some digital I/O (enable, reset, etc.) signals interfaced between the daughter cards via the backplane.
Please note that the system has to support live insertion of the daughter cards & the daughter cards should also have the required signal conditioning circuit as well. Also the overall end-to-end trace length of the signals can go upto 18" (considering the trace lengths within the daughter cards & the backplane)
Let me know a suitable part to use for the backplane sort of application for signal conditioning, level translation & live insertion for digital I/Os (Open-drain & Push-Pull signals).
Looking forward for your suggestion in this regard.
For passive signal switches that will support live insertion you need to search for devices with the powered off protection feature which you can filter on the switches search tool on ti.com.
Also take a look at this application not to see if these are the correct type of products for your application.
