TIC12400: TIC12400 for 24V power supply

Part Number: TIC12400

Hi Team,

I have a questions about TIC12400.

I think TIC12400 is dsigned for Automotive but my customer want to use it for Industrial PNP/NPN input.

Actually supply voltage in Industrial is 24V typ.

My Question is

"Can TIC12400 support continuous 35Vs(power supply) and also continuous 35VINx(IN0 to IN23 input voltage)?"

if "YES", all spec of electrical characteristics are also covered by continuous 35V?

TIC12400"Q-1" datasheet mentions that recommended operating conditions is 35V but 35V is tested under "table 61" condition.

in customer use-case, power supply is not battery but continuous 24V.

I attached material which shows what customer wants to do.(resistor/ Vth/ current values are just example, no including RIN,COMP)

If There are something worng, could you let me know or if you have any good materials which explan how to use TIC12400 in Industrial, could you share with me?

Thanks,

  • Hi Kai,

Thanks for bringing us this opportunity.

TIC12400 cannot support continuous 35V, but 24V typical is okay. 35V transient event on the power supply is tolerable. Therefore, we do not have parameters characterized under 35V. What would your customer expect to have?

I reviewed the diagrams in the attachment. The architecture and calculator look good to me.

Even though the input supply voltage is all the way pulled up to 20V~30V, the resistive voltage divider in front of TIC12400 helps reduce 50% of the 20V ~ 30V. This operation region is pretty safe to TIC12400.
