TPS65982-EVM: Need to have 15v 2a PD

Hello,

I am developing a device and I need to get 15v with at least 2a on the USB-C port as part of the source power profile. I have read many of the documentations I can get my hands on this module and I can't find it. I did find that this device can't output 15v (or 14.8v)

However, one note I read in another document shows a 14.8v PDO as an option, so I am thinking if I can just flash this device with a new firmware to get the 14.8v (or 15v) from this device.

If this is not at all possible, kindly suggest an alternate Evaluation Board module, or how to modify this board to get it to act as source and negotiate the 15v 2a power delivery...

Hi Arcie,

The TPS65982-EVM has buck converters to allow 5V, 12v, and 20V PDOs. However, since you need a 15V PDO, you could modify the buck converter circuitry for U7 (HV Source buck). The buck controller is a TPS54335 and its datasheet can be found here: www.ti.com/.../TPS54335-1A
The schematic for the EVM can be found on page 30 of this document: www.ti.com/.../slvuaf8c.pdf

Once you have modified that buck controller to output 15V, you can configure the TPS65982 with a 15V source PDO.

Hello Eric, thanks for the info and the links.If I understood it correctly, I will have to change the resistor divider network to get the 15v, but this will mean losing the 12v option that I needed as well. Thanks again, this is very helpful!
