Hi,

A customer wants to use TUSB8041 on their AOC system, below is the block diagram, the AOC need be powered through TUSB8041 Vbus.

customer has tested TUSB8041, but it does not work, so customer wants to confirm below questions,

1> does below system is work through Vbus power for AOC?

2> if it works, how to setup handshake between Hub and Host?

Hi Sean,

I do not see the block diagram attachment, can you repost it? The TUSB8041 exceeds the current limits for a USB bus powered device, but in a closed system is it possible to power the TUSB8041 from upstream VBUS as long as the voltage rails are regulated and the GRSTz timing is correct.

HI,

re-attached block diagram, please note the Vbus of TUSB8041 is only power source which need to power for AOC in the system.

Hi Sean,

Ok, I misunderstood the original question. The TUSB8041 does not provide VBUS upstream, nor regulate it. The hub only has a USB_VBUS pin for sensing if VBUS has been applied to the hub or not. It sounds like the customer may need something like a USB PD controller like the TPS65982.
