Dears

I have a design using TPS2043B for 3 channel usb ports, and my upstream device can only supply 5V/1.6A power. I want to use TPS2043B to limite every usb port output current to 500mA. can do it ?

In my test , i find it can't limite the current to 500mA when i use the electronic load meter in CC module 1.2A. It also work normally.

So my question is that can TPS2043B limited every channel to 500mA independently .

Hi Aggil,

If you want to limit each channel to 500mA, TPS2043B may not meet your requirment.
Pls kindly check TPS2553D, and set current limit @ 500mA.

Hi,

When use one channel, load cuurent can be up to 1.5A, and the output voltage is 4.5V, i think this is improper.

HI ,

Is that you test the limit current threshold? The limit threshold can up to 1.5A.
It recomment your loading current not exceed 0.5A for this device in each channel.

Hi,

NO. Device is recommend the continous loading current is 500mA(power loss consideration).

The limit threshold is 1.5A, when the loading current up to 1.5A ,it will touch the limit thershold and OC protection.

The TPS2043B DS sadi 'When the output load exceeds the current-limit threshold or a short is present, the device limits the output current to a safe level by switching into a constant-current mode'' .

How much current will be limited ?

BTW, which device can limit the output current to 500mA ? and support 3 channel .

Hi,

TPS2043B only support current limit at 1.5A for each channel.

If you want to limit at 0.5A for each channel, you should chose TPS2047AD or TPS2048AD triple channel 0.5A power switch.
