TUSB422: Question about Figure 76. TUSB422 in DRP Application in datasheet

Guru*** 143870 points
Part Number: TUSB422

I am developing a battery charger based reference design using TUSB422.  I have the following questions about the diagram:

1.  Why the FETs at the input of the charger?

2.  Why the boost converter?  To provide OTG boost?

Thanks.

  • Jeff,

    1) DRP can source or sink power so only one path can be enabled at a time.

    2) VBAT is typically 3.7V.  VBUS is at least 5V (can be up to 20V with USB-PD).

You may want to talk to Steve Schnier who has already developed a charger and sink using this part.
