HD3SS3212: Maximum additive jitter data at specific bit rate

Hi Team,

Our customer requests the data of maximum additive jitter specification for HD3SS3212.

I believe there is no characterization data since not definition in the electrical characteristics.

However, do you have design target or estimation for this maximum additive jitter information ?

There is following description in the data sheet, however, no jitter spec is there.

HD3SS3212 data sheet Page 1 and Page 9,
"Excellent dynamic characteristics of the device allow high-speed switching with minimum attenuation to the signal eye diagram with very little added jitter."

Hi Gerasimos-san,

Thanks for your support. Customer will MUX two inputs which data rate is in the range from 100Mbps to 2.5Gbps.

I do not have an exact number for added jitter but the random added jitter is small and assuming the design of the rest of your system does not add jitter there should be little to no need for concern at speeds of 2.5Gbps.

Thanks for your comments. Do you have any data above 2.5Gbps, then ?

I will ask customer to simulate performance with the S-parameter model, however, any data which could be shared as a reference would be appreciated.

Hello Kawai-san,

We do not have specific jitter data added.The HD3SS3212 is a passive mux and will add small amounts of jitter due to inherent signal properties, however the S-parameters should be able to provide an application specific estimate for you.
