hello ,

i have a requirement of interfacing the digital signals of a 12v system with 5v system.

so i am looking for a 5v to 12v (uni direction) as well as 12v to 5v (unidirectional), level sifter with short circuit production and ESD safe. please give suggestions.

The12v system is for testing, where human interactions will be there, that's why looking for short circuit production as well as ESD safe ICs.

None of the level translators that I am responsible for support 12V to 5V or 5V to 12V translation.

Did you try using the TI search tool? I found the results below when I filtered out support for at least 12 V, and the results are shown below:

Hi Subaananthan,

Good suggestions from Nirav . CD4K are the only logic parts from translation family capable of higher voltage tolerance . This however do not have short circuit protections as desired by you .
Apart from the suggestions from Nirav , you could also consider to use SN74LS07 which are open collector devices allowing up to 30V under normal operating conditions . It can work as 5V to 12V unidirectional up translation, however , you cannot do high to low operation since the inputs are not 12V tolerant .

Thank you very much for the guidance. i will go with SN74LS07 for up translation. is it possible to build a short circuit production externally? if so can you please explain how..
Note : we do have unused ADC channels. we can make use of them if required.

The short circuit protection "feature" will have to involve output resistance large enough to limit the current within the operating spec of the device in case of a short.
