TXB0108: Can I use TXB0108 to level shift(1.8V to 3.3V) SPI, CAN interface, Audio, RGB LCD, Interrupt signals and UART?

Part Number: TXB0108
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TXS0108E

Hi,

Can I use TXB0108 to level shift  SPI, CAN interface, Audio, RGB LCD, Interrupt signals(all 1.8V to 3.3V)  and  UART(1.8V to 5V)  ?

For I2C I plan to use TXS0108E.

If these cannot be used, please suggest the alternate one for each interface.

Regards,

Shanu V

  • An actual CAN bus does not really use logic levels; are these signals that are intended to go through a CAN bus transceiver?

What do you mean with "audio"? The TXB would not be able to translate analog signals; I guess you mean I²S.

Many of these signals are unidirectional, which means that you could use unidirectional or direction-controlled translators instead. But the TXB would work with all of them.
  • Thanks for the reply.

"CAN" I meant the SPI signals to CAN controller and "Audio" I meant I2S signals.
I have read the reply from ti to others, saying TXB can drive only 20uA and they were suggesting to use SN74 series.
Some of the interrupt signals have internal pullup. So, can I use TXB for this purpose?
  • The TXB has weak outputs in order to allow bidirectional signals (the output must allow being overdriven by another device).

As far as I can see, none of your signals are bidirectional, so you can use a direction-controlled translator. How many signal lines do you have? Any frequency requirements?
