ISO7760: How does ISO7760 and ISO7240 keep DC level?

Part Number: ISO7760

Dear Technical Support Team,

How do ISO7760 and ISO7240 keep DC level?

Is DC level kept by following function block?

Oscillator、Emissions Reduction Techniques

DC Channel(OSC + PWM)

  • Hi TTD,

Your understanding is correct. Please find additional details related your questions.

Since ISO7760 is an OOK device which transmits a carrier signal across isolation barrier for one state and no carrier for the other state, the receiver always knows whether the input is a HIGH or LOW even if input is DC.

In edge-based architecture, the state information is not transmitted across isolation barrier instead the state transition information is transmitted. Since lower datarate signals (<100kbps) cannot be transmitted through the same isolation cap the same way, slower signals are modulated with a PWM block that you indicated in the block diagram to higher frequencies to be able to transfer the state information.

I hope that answers your questions, thanks.

    Hi Koteshwar Rao,

    Thank you for your reply.
I understand that both ISO7240 and ISO7760 can keep DC output when input DC level.

I'd like to confirm following questions just to be sure.
When input change low to high or high to low , output behaves based on following Function Table.
If input doesn't change like keeping low or high , does output behave based on following Function Table?

I concern that output level doesn't keep when input does't change.

    Hi TTD,

As long as VCC1 and VCC2 are in the recommended operating voltage, I confirm you that the output of both ISO7760 and ISO7240 follow their respective function tables for all the datarate from 0 bps (DC) to the maximum datarate that they are rated in datasheet. Hence the function tables are also applicable to DC input.

The maximum datarate for ISO7760 is 100Mbps and for ISO7240 is 25 / 150Mbps. Thanks.
