ISO1050: ISO1050 application

Part Number: ISO1050

Hello Team,

My customer uses our ISO1050, their application is as below, there are 14 CAN loads(2 MPU and 12 PM) on the BUS. And the schematic for each load is as below. Customer test the CANH and CANL on MPUB. They find when they insert any PM board, tthere are abnormal waveforms of CANH and CANL, the frequency is about 38kHz, after short time, the CANH and CANL waveforms are ok. You can find the waveform below. Can you help to explain why there are some abnormal waveform when insert any PM board? Thanks

  • Hi Nanfang,

I assume customer is trying to Hot Plug the node (plug in new node when network is ON). In such application it is good to power up the PM-Controller before the transceiver connected to it is powered up. If the PM-Controller and transceiver are powered ON at same time, it may so happen that the transceiver turns ON before the PM-Controller boots up completely and during this period, Tx pin of the transceiver may be at in-determinant state and may cause bus contention. Also, its good to plug the node by keeping it in recessive mode.

To identify exact root cause, can you please share more information about the system,
    1) Does the customer plug bus and power to the node at same time? How are the PM nodes powered ?
    2) What is the function of PM nodes and how far are the nodes placed? Can you share the complete schematic of PM node?
