How can I maintain low radiated emissions when using integrated isolated power devices?

  • The best way to keep radiated emissions low when using integrated isolated power devices, we recommend you to use our second generation ISOW devices, ISOW7741 and ISOW1412, that maintain very low radiated emissions.

    If you are already designing with ISOW7841, then you can follow the guidelines mentioned here. Because high-frequency switching is used in integrated power and signal isolation devices, long cables in the system or larger PCBs can behave as antenna and radiate this noise. To solve this, one can implement common-mode chokes to block the unwanted noise and stop it from reaching rest of the PCB and forming larger radiation loop. Operating at a lower power supply voltage (3.3V in and 3.3V out), using filters, and implementing a PCB interlayer switching capacitor can further reduce emissions. The amount of emissions measured also depends on PCB design and test setup.
