ISO7821: Digital Isolation for USB

Part Number: ISO7821

To act as a Digital USB 2.0 Isolator, Shall i consider ISO7821 ?

Will it replace Linear Tech LTM7884IY ?

  • Hi Natarajan,

Thank you for showing interest in ISO7821. Did you mean to refer to LTM2884? I couldn't find any information related to LTM7884 part number online.

Please do note that ISO7821 is a standard digital isolator that accepts & outputs standard CMOS digital signals. While LMT2884 is an USB isolator that isolates USB signals which employ different logic thresholds & protocol compared to standard CMOS digital signals. Hence, ISO7821 alone cannot directly replace LTM2884.

Please refer to the below E2E post that talks about implementing discrete USB isolation using ISO77xx or ISO78xx digital isolators. Thanks.
