Part Number: ISO7220M
a customer is mine is planning to use this isolation device in a new project and he want to know if the device may also be used as a cable driver for TTL signals?
I am not quite sure if there are any specific current drive requirements expected out of the digital isolator ISO7220M. The digital isolator can be used for driving a cable as long as the total capacitance of the cable isn't too much ( should be <<100pF) and the current requirement is <4mA for 5V. Higher capacitance will lead to slower rise times and also demand higher peak currents to support faster switching. Please do share us more information related to the cable to be able to better comment.
Regarding the digital isolator part number, ISO7220M is a very old device. I recommend suggesting ISO7720 to customer in place ISO7220M. ISO7720 supports much better performance with respect to most performance parameters. Thanks.
