ISOW7821: GND1,GND2

Part Number: ISOW7821

Please let us know about following questions.

1.Does ISOW7821 GND1 pins are connected each other in IC ?

GND1 (pin2-pin8)

2.Does ISOW7821 GND2 pins are connected each other in IC ?

GND2(pin9-pin15)

 

3.Does customer need to connect GND1 pins(pin2 and pin8) each other at external IC ?

 

4.Does customer need to connect GND2 pins(pin9 and pin15) each other at external IC ?

    Hi Kura-san,

    Please find below my inputs.

    1. Yes, GND1 pins 2 and 8 are internally connected to each other in the IC.
    2. Yes, GND2 pins 9 and 15 are internally connected to each other in the IC.
    3. For normal operation, it is not a problem if pin 8 is not connected to external GND plane. But for good EMC performance we recommend to connect pin 8 also to external GND plane. Pin 2 should be always connected to external GND plane with shortest trace between them.
    4. For normal operation, it is not a problem if pin 9 is not connected to external GND plane. But for good EMC performance we recommend to connect pin 9 also to external GND plane. Pin 15 should be always connected to external GND plane with shortest trace between them.
