ISO1212: Surge simuation for ISO1212

Hi,

I am trying to understand the circuit response with surge for ISO1212 , I used IEC61000-4-5_2K simulation file as surge input.Normal input to the circuit is 24V. I also used reference simulation file from TI for ISO1212 simlation.

Rin -562

Rthr- 2.8k

TVS used is SMAJ22CA

Here the curcuit is taking 500us of time to recover and come to normal operation.

in ouraplication, Filter time delay shall be less than 100uS. It would be gratefull if I get some help in this regard.

or If am doing some error in simulation

This is the result of the analysis based on your response. Could you provide the same thing from your simulation results? I'd like to see what you are looking at if possible.

I have attacehd the sim files in which the transient response image is also inserted. Please refer the sim files.

Channel 1 to Channel 2.TSC - surge applied between Channel 1 and Channel 2.

L-E channel 1.TSC - Surge applied between channel 1 and ground.

Here I have used fresh grounds for each Volatge generators, Does it meen V4 and VIN1 have same ground reference or different? If Same, how can I simulate isolation?

As per our requirement maximum detection shall be at 0.1mS, hence time delay shall be less than 100us.Hence , can I reduce the affecting time of surge?

I apologize for the lack of updates here. I am still looking into this offline with some other engineers to see if this behavior is to be expected. As I understand it, we don't have a way of simulating isolation itself.

Hi VV17,

I apologize for our delay, but the Isolation team cannot be sure this simulation is reflective of ISO1212's behavior during a 2kV IEC61000-4-5 surge. This simulation model is intended to demonstrate logic-level performance during normal operation and not isolation or high voltage performance.

We recommend performing this test with a physical ISO1212 device in your system or on an EVM for more accurate evaluation.
