SN6501-Q1: Deriving +15V for Gate driver

Part Number: SN6501-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN6501

Hi All,

Is it possible to derive +15V, 50mA from +5V at the secondary of transformer (1:2 ratio)? I am planning to use Full Wave Bridge Rectifier for same.

Regards,

KP

  • Hi Kartik,

Welcome to E2E! If the transformer selection is fixed, a +15V, 50mA output can be derived from a 5V transformer output using a half-bridge configuration as shown in SN6501's datasheet and copied below:

Please let me know if this is helpful.

Thank you for posting to E2E,

  • Hi Kartik,

If the transformer selection is not fixed, choosing a component with sufficient turns ratio will be the simplest way to achieve 15V, 50mA output. Examples of transformers to choose are Würth transformers 750317072 and 750343725.

To ensure the SN6501 can compensate for the higher output power, Vcc will need to be >3.8V.

Additional solutions and circuits for +12V and +15V outputs can be found in this Application Report.

    Respectfully,
    Manuel Chavez
