I have a question regarding the TI CD54HC4051 device, and the datasheet is attached. Are there clamping diodes on the analog I/O signals? If so, what is the maximum current thru those diodes? There doesn’t appear to be any clamping diodes according the datasheet, but I want to be absolutely sure of it.
there are diodes and they are rated at 20ma. If you look at the absolute max limits you will see Iik and Iok. Both specd with +/- current.s. This means there is a clamp diode to Vcc and to Gnd on the inputs and the outputs.
What is the voltage drop of the clamping diodes?
approximately .7V
