.  The replacement part has to work bidirectional between a Spartan6 FPGA’s 3.3V bus and an existing 5V bus.  I’m looking into the SN74LVCH16652A which says it can be a translator between 3.3V/5V busses but not 100% clear on the operation nor how this gets configured.   First wanted to confirm if this part can in fact allow the FPGA’s 3.3V bus talk to the 5V bus and vice versa (3.3 to 5V and 5V to 3.3V).  And if so, how the 4 VCC connections get configured…looks like all 4 VCCs would require 3.3V but not sure how the transceiver would output 5V(?)

If the SN74ABT16652DL is not a replacement, then any idea of another alternative?

The part can translate down to Vcc so it will work 5V to 3.3V. The outputs going either direction will equal Vcc. when you are going from 3.3V to 5V you will only get the 3.3V out.

So if the part that is on the 5V side has TTL inputs it will work, otherwis it will not.
