comparing the 74AHC16244DGGRE4 and the SN74HC16244DGGR

 

Our customer is interested in the HC16244 and asked the difference between these two part numbers, the 74AHC16244DGGRE4 and the SN74HC16244DGGR .   From the web documentation it is not obvious in the data sheet or part numbering .. can you help explain ?

  • There is  no difference. Some of thetracking softwares have a character limit so only part of the actual part number can be shown. one have the first 2 characters cut off wile the other has the last 2.  SN74AHC16244DGGRE4

    Customers can also look on the box label for the 2-character Environment Category (E-Cat) Code.

    If it starts with "e" or "G" (e3, e4, G3, G4, etc), then the box contains Pb-Free (RoHS compatible) parts

     If it starts with "G" (G3, G4, etc), the box contains Green compatible parts (E-Cat Codes were added to boxes beginning on June 1st, 2004.

     The naming conventions are based on materials being used.  Per the J-STD069, the groupings are:

     e0 -- contains intentionally added Pb2

    e1 -- SnAgCu

    e2 -- Sn alloys with no Bi or Zn excluding SnAgCu

    e3 -- Sn

    e4 -- Precious metal (e.g. Ag, Au, NiPd, NiPdAu) (no Sn)

    e5 -- SnZn, SnZnX (all other Tin Zinc or Tin Zinc and other tertiary alloys not containing Bi)

    e6 -- contains Bi

    e7 -- low temperature solder (≤ 150 ºC) containing Indium (no Bi)

    e8 and e9 symbols are unassigned.

     The “G4” would only apply to NiPdAu lead finishes for TI.  The “G3” would only apply to annealed matte tin lead finishes.  

    1.  If ordering parts with a “G4” extension, you would receive the NiPdAu lead finish.  

    2.  If ordering parts with a “G3” extension, you would receive the Sn lead finish

    3.  If ordering parts without the G4 or G3 naming convention, you may receive NiPdAu or annealed matte tin.

    - You would have to check the box label, it will show  a “G3” or “G4” under the Pb-free symbol.
