74HC14 vs. 74HA14

One of our designs calls for a SN74HC14PWR.
The parts are usually marked something like:
HC14
08KG4
COC2

I just got a call from the production guys and they received a batch of boards marked:
HA14
45KG4
AQC0

What is the difference between the HC14 and the HA14?
I'm having a hard time locating a data sheet for HA14.

And the data sheet for the HC14 doesn't show any of the parts with markings of HA14

The HA14 is a SN74AHC14 while the HC14 is a SN74HC14. You can compare the datasheets

They are not the exact same parts. The AHC will be slightly improved. The AHC should funcion as well or better than the HC part and should drop in but if that is not what you ordered you should send them back.

OK, I understand.

Are there any documents that you are aware of that outline the differences between the HC and AHC families?

Or maybe as you suggested I'll just have to put the data sheets side by side.

As I said these are very close. Here are the main differences.

1. the input on the HC has a clamp diode while the input on the AHC does no. This allows the input on the AHC to go above Vcc. Since you have been using HC this should not be an issue.

2. The AHC part will be slightly faster and have slightly higher drive. You can compare datasheets on these.

The AHC should drop right in for the HC with no issues.
