And Gate with Open drain output not correct as expected

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN74LS05

what will be the output at R25  when both inputs are 0V,

This is open drain so i already put an pullup (R24--> 100k and 10K ) i am expecting as 12v at R25 but i am getting only 7V.

is that i am wrong ?or what is the problem here ? please reply me soon anyone

  • sorry in my subject i put as AND , actually its an NAND gate (U4) and R2 --> 100k then i changed to 10K .,
  • Hi Praveen, the 7 V at the part violates the absolute maximum rating in the datasheet and can damage the device. You will have to use another type of device or lower the voltage.

  • Hi Ryan, thanks .

Before getting your reply( fortunately you too suggested the same:-) )  we did lower the voltage option and completed the testing ,but  our need (requirement) is any other IC(device) which can support more output Voltage(such that 12V to 13V range) that will be help for us.

    if possible same package .

    waiting for your support ..

  • Hi Praveen, we have an SN74LS05 high-voltage open drain device, but it is an inverting buffer, not an AND gate. You could also consider using some parts in our CD4000 series, which can handle up to 15 V, but I don't think we have any open-drain devices in that family.

What is your end application? We may be able to find other parts to work out a solution.
