TABLE 1 OF LSF0108 DATA SHEET

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LSF0108

Dear TI,

I am using your LSF0108 to translated between 2.5 Volts and 3.3 Volts and looking at table 1 in the data sheet it says the following "EN is controlled by Vref_B logic levels and should be at least 1V higher than Vref_A for best translator".   My question is what is meant by best translator? Will this work?

Thank You,

AL

  • Hi AL,

"Best translator" is a grammar mistake. It should say something like "best translation performance."

    If possible, I recommend tying Vref_B to a level higher than 3.3 V since your 3.3 V is <1 V greater than 2.5 V.

I personally think your application is OK (maybe not at high frequencies) but I won't officially recommend something that goes against datasheet specs. The reson it is good for Vref_B to be >1V higher than Vref_A is because the on-resistance of the LSF increases dramatically once Vref_B - Vref_A increases beyond 0.8 V. See Figure 4 in the app note www.ti.com/cn/lit/pdf/slva675.

You can order the LSF010XEVM-001 and test the translation performance in the lab. What is your end application?
