LSF0204RGYR Logic levels regarding

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LSF0204

Hi,

I would want to use a Level Translator Specified below in our design. I was looking for the input and output logic levels for this part

which is not very clear in the datasheet given. Kindly help me out with the same.

Part Number            : LSF0204RGYR

Manufacturer          : Texas Instruments

Quantity required  : 1000

  • Vishal,
All LSF family parts are bidirectional voltage level translators that operate from 1.0 V to 4.5 V (Vref_A) and 1.8 V to 5.5 V (Vref_B). The input/output logic levels are determined by what voltage you place on the Vref_A and Vref_B pins.
  • We are translating 3.3V( Vref_B) to 1.8V(Vref_A).I wanted to know IO logics Vih,Vil,Voh and Vol for the IC specified to check the IO compatibility.
  • Vishal,

Thanks for the clarification.  I will do some research and get back to you within 24 hours.

  • Hi Vishal, let me clarify this device a bit. It is a NMOS FET switch that turns on during the low pulse and off during the high pulse. The "VOL" of the device is equal to the VOL of whatever is driving it. For the most part, the devoce uses pullup resistors to translate voltage levels. However, when translating down to Vref_A (as in your case), the device can translate down to Vref_A on the output without a pullup resistor (properties of NMOS threshold drop). So the VOH in your case will be 1.8 V without pullups on the output. You can use pullups if you want, and you can pull up the output to 1.8 V for better signal integrity if that becomes an issue. You can also use any pullup voltage you'd like - the LSF family is very versatile.

This application note goes into more detail and should explain any questions you have: http://www.ti.com/cn/lit/pdf/slva675

  • Hi Emrys Maier,
We are verifying whether LSF0204RGYR IC is compatible with that of our SoC.For that we are looking for the electrical specification Voh(min&max),Vol(min&max),Vih(min&max),Vil(min&max) for data inputs of Vref_B(3.3v) which is not specified in the datasheet.Kindly provide the Values for the same.
  • Vishal,
I'm afraid I don't have any better answer than Ryan. The LSF0204 is just a FET based switch with pullup based level translation.
