SN74CB3Q3257 and SN74CBTLV16800 unused pin

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN74CBTLV16800, SN74CB3Q3257

Hi,

unused control pin of SN74CB3Q3257 and SN74CBTLV16800 has to be connected to GND or VCC.

how about in case of I/O pin? is floating ok?

Thanks in advance.

  • David,

It would be acceptable to leave the I/O pin floating. Since switches only pass a signal and do not drive an output based on an input threshold like logic gates, there should not be any power wasted by a floating input.

However, I would still recommend connecting the input to ground or VCC so the output is defined in the event that one of the floating channels is selected. This would be especially important if the output of the mux connects to the input of the logic gate.
