SN74AUP1T87: short the AB input

Part Number: SN74AUP1T87
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN74AUP1G57

Hello,

Are there any problem the using the SN74AUP1T87 with short circuit the A and B input?
I think that the device input is held high or low, there is no problem.

Also , could you please let me know other general XNOR and NOR devices cases about this?
Our customer would like to use NOR logic as NOT logic sometimes.
In this case, they connected A and B input. If there is any problem in this use case, please let me know.

I appreciate it if you support this post.

Best Regards,
Ryuji

  • If you connect the same signal to both inputs of an XNOR gate, the output is constant low. (To get the NOT function, tie one input of the XNOR gate to GND, or use a NOR gate.)

In general, there is no electrical problem when you connect the same signal to all inputs of a logic gate. (The capacitances of the inputs will add up, but Ci is so low to begin with that this does not matter.)

To get more flexibility, consider using configurable logic gates (SN74AUP1G57/58/97/98/99) instead.
