CY74FCT162240T: CY74FCT162240T and SN74ABT16240ADGGR replacing obsolete competitor device

Part Number: CY74FCT162240T

Hello,

We have a customer who is asking some very specific questions regarding two of our devices, could someone please have a look at this?

"I am attempting to replace obsolete IDT P/N IDT74FCT162240ATPA.
TI cross reference indicates P/N CY74FCT162240T is a FUNCTIONAL EQUIVALENT to IDT74FCT162240ATPA but I can't see much difference, but to further confuse the issue SN74ABT16240ADGGR is shown as a DIRECT REPLACEMENT for IDT74FCT162240ATPAG. Can you elaborate what the differences might be for the functional equivalent and how the ABT P/N is a direct replacement for the FCT?

1) I have reviewed that parameters of each of these parts and cannot see much difference. Can you tell WHY TI shows this part (74FCT162240PACT ) as a FUNCTIONAL EQUIVALENT and not a DIRECT REPLACEMENT for the IDT74FCT162240ATPA?

SN74ABT16240ADGGR is shown as a DIRECT REPLACEMENT for IDT74FCT162240ATPAG.
2) How can the ABT P/N be a DIRECT REPLACEMENT for the FCT instead of a FUNCTIONAL EQUIVALENT? My understanding of the FCT and ABT families leads me to believe that these are different processes and could be functionally equivalent for sure, but is it truly a Direct replacement?

3) Based on your cross referencing information, is TI stating that the best replacement for the obsolete IDT P/N (IDT74FCT162240ATPA) we are attempting to replace would be SN74ABT16240ADGGR as a lead-free alternate?"

Thanks,
