LSF0204: What is the correct information about index points?

Part Number: LSF0204

Hello. TI team.

Customer requested an index point from LSF0204YZPR. I found a TI response under them.

But, This differs from the information in the actual IC points and data sheets.

Question about LSF0204_181217.pptx

Please check the attached PPT file. please tell me the exact IC pin map.

And I ask you to edit the datasheet.

Thanks & regards.

  • Hi Kim,
As mentioned in the other thread you found, the drawing on the pin function table is just an illustration of the package and is in no way a guarantee of the physical dimensions or markings of the package.

The mechanical drawing page is what you should reference for mechanical information.

I will put in a request for the datasheet to be updated.
  • I did not ask for mechanical dimensions. i asked where the A1 pin is located.

Is the datasheet on page 3 correct?

  • My apologies for not being clearer. The drawing on page 3 is not correct - and I have requested that the datasheet be updated to make it more clear. It seems that, in an attempt to make the drawing look more like the real package, the datasheet illustrator added a "pin A1 indicator" dot, and failed to place it on top of pin A1 where it should be. The last thing we want is to be confusing, so that will be fixed.

As you can see in the above drawing from the mechanical page, there is a clear indicator of the location for the Ball A1 Index Area. To avoid any confusion, the indicator Ball A1 Index Area is directly above ball A1.

  • Thank you for your kind explanation.

The actual IC of index point is located at the bottom left as shown in the picture below.

Just below the index point is point A1. Is it right?

  • Hi Kim,
I don't think the device you have pictured here is an LSF0204YZPR -- the topside marking does not match that in our system. Can you please check on this?

Please disregard my question above.  We were able to determine that this is a valid topside marking, and one of our quality engineers is looking into this now to determine exactly what happened. Because of the holidays, the investigation into this issue may be delayed.

The part marking _should_ match the mechanical page of the datasheet. I will let you know once I have more information.

  • Hi Kim,
We have found the source of the issue.

There was some confusion apparently at our manufacturing site, and they have been marking pin A3 of devices. So, the devices you have, the mark is on the A3 pin, not the A1 pin. This is not correct per our design, and we are working to fix it.

Would it be possible for you to return some of these units through the distributor as an FA job?
  • Hey Kim,
There is no need for a return at this time. We have decided to update the mechanical drawing on this part and the datasheet pinout diagram to match the real device. The physical device will continue to have a marking on the A3 ball corner of the device, and within the next 2 weeks the datasheet will be updated to have all images match.

    We apologize for the confusion.
  • Hi, Maier.

we have no problem thanks to your support.

If the datasheet was modified, the others people will be not confused.

    Thanks & regards.

  • Hi Downey,

This is to let you know that the LSF0204 datasheet has been modified and the pinout in page 3 matches the physical device.
We have created a custom mechanical drawing within the datasheet for your reference indicating the pin marking on A3 coordinate.

Thank you for your feedback and bringing it to our attention.
