SN74HC540: SN74HC540NSR and SN74HC540DBR pin 2 pin replacements

Hi,

for my customer I would like to know if SN74HC540NSR and SN74HC540DBR are pin 2 pin compatible.

Is there any tool i can use for checking?

    The packaging information table on page 6 of the PDF datasheet does not list the DB package; the entry in the ordering information table on page 1 appears to be an oversight.

    The NS (SO) package is the same as DW (SOIC), but with a narrower chip body; both with a pin pitch of 1.27 mm. The DB (SSOP) package would have a pin pitch of 0.65 mm, which is similar to PW (TSSOP), but with a wider chip body; it might be possible to solder a TSSOP device onto a SSOP footprint.
