SN74AVC16T245: maximum data rate specified in data

Part Number: SN74AVC16T245
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN74AXC8T245

Hi TI,

I have a query about the SN74AVC16T245 16-Bit Dual-Supply Bus Transceiver to clarify a question that has been raised by my customer, as the answer is not clear from the datasheet.

On the first page the datasheet says:

“Maximum Data Rates

– 380 Mbps (1.8 V to 3.3 V Level-Shifting)”

Does 380Mbps mean up to 380MHz for each bit on the device simultaneously (ie up to 380M words per second) or does it mean a maximum aggregate data throughput for the 16-bit device (ie 380Mbps/16-bits = 23.75MHz)?

I think it probably means up to 380MHz for each bit (or 380M words per second), but there is also nothing in the data sheet to say it isn’t the aggregate data throughput for the device.

Thanks,

Mike
