SmartRF Studio 7 1.10.0 can't find device in Windows Vista PC

I have a Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit Service Pack 2 computer.  I want to use SmartRF Studio 7 1.10.0 to test CC2530 chip with SmartRF05EB board.

I can verify from the Device Manager that SmartRF05EB is under “Other devices”, but SmartRF Studio 7 1.10.0 cannot see this device or any device.

Please let me know how to fix it.

Thanks,

Alice

    Hi Alice,

could you check if/how the device is listed in the Device Manager panel? The SmartRF05EB should be listed there as a "Cebal controlled device" if the drivers have been installed properly.

    Regards,

    Bjørn

The SmartRF05EB listed in the Device Manager panel as a "Other devices", but the CC2531 USB dongle listed there as a "Cebal controlled device".  Neither one was seen by the SmartRF Studio 7 1.10.0.

    Regards,

    Alice

    Hi,

The CC2531 dongle is not supported directly in SmartRF Studio, so it is correct that this device is not detected. In order to use the dongle in SmartRF Studio you will have to connect a debugger (e.g. CC debugger or SmartRF05EB) to the debug connector on the dongle. Then it will be detected by SmartRF Studio.

I would expect however that the SmartRF05EB was detected, and also listed as a  "Cebal controlled device" in device manager. Could you please try to reinstall the driver for that board via the device manager? The Cebal drivers is typically found in this folder:

    C:\Program Files\Texas Instruments\SmartRF Tools\Drivers\cebal

    Regards,

    Bjørn
