CC1120 settings for ETSI compliance in 869.4-869.650MHz (500mw)

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC1190

Hello,

We have developed a CC1120-based product and certified for CEPT/FCC/ARIB, now we want to increase the link budget and add the CC1190 for the CEPT region, thus we will operate now on the 869.4-869.65Mhz band with the transmission power set to 20dBm, using 25KHz channels.

Do you have a recommended setting to maximize data rate? we have done a first test approach and tested with SmartRF studio with a packet test, currently tested the following settings OK:

- RX filter BW 25KHz, 4GFSK, deviation ~12.51KHz, 12.5Ksps symbol rate, 25Kbps bit rate.

- RX filter BW 25KHz, 4GFSK, deviation ~6.25KHz, 12.5Ksps symbol rate, 25Kbps bit rate.

Thanks in advance for any guidance/suggestion.

  • Hi Antonio,

I think you'll find the maximum data rate is contrained by the out of band limits imposed by the stadard. You have to measure this and compare to the limits set by the standard. You deviation settings (not just data rate) will also affect the spectral spread, so take that into account when measuring with your spectrum analyzer. If using 25KHz channels then you may have to use this channelisation as the primary constraint, and for the channels on the edges of 869.4 and 869.65MHz respectively, you could adjust the power settings to ensure out-of-band limits are respected. Good luck.

  • Thanks for the advice, will take it into account.  Cheers,
