We have a CC2511 EMK that is going to be used as a packet sniffer for a network of CC2500 devices.

Out of the box it can not be recognized as a USB device and we do not have the SmartRF05EB boards.

We have only MSP-EXP430F5438 boards

We have also downloaded Smart RF Studio and Smart RF Flash Programmer.

Does anybody has a guide on how can we configure it with the packet sniffer software from TI?

We will appreciate your help since we have not been able to go forward so far.

Have you visited the TI packet sniffer page (http://focus.ti.com/docs/toolsw/folders/print/packet-sniffer.html) and read the Packet Sniffer User Manual? There you will find information on how to configure the CC2511 dongle as a packet sniffer. From your post, I understand that you have neither a CC Debugger, SmartRF04 EB nor SmartRF05 EB? If so, you will need to get a CC Debugger (http://focus.ti.com/docs/toolsw/folders/print/cc-debugger.html) to configure the dongle.

I've got a CC Debugger and dowloaded Packet sniffer and SmartRF Studio 7

I've updated the CC Debbuger with SmartRF Studio 7 and when I connect the cc2511 to the CC Debbuger, the dongle is'nt recognized.

That have to I make

Did you also connect the cc2511 dongle to a USB port? This is needed in order to power it.

Yes, but is'nt recognized by WIndows.

have to I connect the dongle to a usb port and connect the CC debbuger to the dongle connected to usb port?

Yes, even if the device is not recognized, it will get power from the USB port. The CC debugger will not power the USB dongle.

Hi, I just have a little questions on this subject...

In fact I have the same problem, so I have a CC2511 but I have the SmartRF05EB boards.

So my question is: can I configure it without the CC Debugger ?

And if I can, how to configure it ?

Yes. You need to connect a 10-pin cable between the ExtSoc debug connector on the SmartRF05EB and the Debug connector on the CC2511 dongle.

The user guide for CC2511 EMK (http://focus.ti.com/lit/ug/swru082b/swru082b.pdf) explains how to do this with a SmartRF04EB. The principle is the same with a SmartRF05EB, but you don't need the SOC_DEM board; you connect directly to the ExtSoc debug port instead.
