Hi,

after some time I'm back on my EZ430 RF2500 kit and simpliciti on IAR. I'm having nothing but problems. I tried to run many demo applications but just cannot get any of them working (have tried several HW nodes, all the same behaviour).... Nodes work out of the box, but when I try to recreate their firmware with IAR - they stop working...

Demos are r eZ430-RF2500 Sensor Monitor Demo (Rev. F) and demo applications that are distributed with simpliciti 1.1.1. None of them work - now I wonder whether I missed something important..

What are your experiences ? Do you use simple install, read workspaces into IAR, Build, Download and RUN (AP on one node, ED on other) or do I have to do something else also ?

To get better understanding of the problem, we have ordered USB dongle 2511DK for packet sniffer SW, but it doesn't work (it is not recognized by windows - although we have installed SmartRF packet sniffer) - seems like not programmer with proper firmware...

IS this just my bad luck, or are these problems more than occasional ?

Thanks in advance,

regards,

Robert.

Maybe you should describe your problems in detail like how it doesn' work.

In building? In running? Can you access the virtual com port from ez430 and see the output from Hyperterminal? Or LED flashing but not connections between AP&ED?

    • The best way is debugging the demo in IAR to find out if the antenna breaks. (Buy another one)
    • If ez430 can not be identified, use another PC.
    • If RF connection always breaks among different RF2500, turn off your WiFi router/devices to have to shoot.

I have ordered 4 sets of ez430-RF2500 from two distributors. It is interesting to find out that ez430-RF2500 have different versions in F/W and H/W. They changed the battery pack upside down.

I have no idea if 2511DK can sniffer packet for ez430-RF2500. At least ez430-RF2500 can not support sniffer firmware by itself.

    Hi,

thanks for response. I already forgot about this post....

In the mean time, my problems vanished, when I changed position of my Access Point. Not sure, maybe also USB port was not functioning properly... Right now, I got past all mentioned problems and have the system working, including robustness to restart of ED or AP. What I see now, is quite short range of communication - this is my next topic to study, how to increase that range...

To better solve my problems, I also made DIY packet sniffer on rf2500 (without GUI, just sending intercepted packets to serial interface) that helped me a lot in troubleshooting process....

    Thanks for responses and discussion,

    regards,

    Robert.
