I am running the AutoPortDetect program that is part of the EZ430-RF256x demo software. I am able to identify which port the ez430-rf256x usb stick is plugged into my PC. When I run the program and try to connect to the COM port, it keeps giving an error and not connecting. So I can not even see the accelerometer data that should be coming from the remote target board.

The com port is configured as  9600 baud, 8 bits, no parity, 1 stop bit, no flow control.

I should say that I am able to flash the ez430 target boards using the USB dongle with IAR. I just can not connect to the com port, and the penguin racer demo is not responding to the target board because I can not connect to the com port.

Is the light sequence correct, both red and blue light ON when connected? Are you running the batch file in:

     C:\Texas Instruments\EZ430-RF256x SDK\GA 1.0\PC_Applications\EZ430-RF256x Accelerometer Demo.BAT

     that came with the installation?

    Regards,

    ZH
