this is a evaluation kit, so why shouldn't the user not be able to write and run his own code on the hardware?

So, the answer to your question is: YES! Yes, you can program the MSP430BT5190 (mounted on the tool) with your own software and - i.e.  only use the accelerometer and read his data and send it to the host PC via Application (Backchannel) UART.

Hello William,

Any release (including the upcoming one) contains a full SDK (SW Development Kit) - MindTree Bluetooth stack and sample applications in source code.

The content of EZ430-RF2560 SDK is very similar to the content of MSP430 experimenter's board+PAN1315 SDK.
(The main difference is the interface with the accelerometer sensor in the application layer)

TI recommends doing the development with MSP430 experimenter's board+PAN1315 kit since it exposes most of the MSP430 interfaces.

I would like to understand the difference in terms of MSP430's interface with the accelerometer sensor, which you mentioned in your e-mail.

Do you mean that to develop application software to access the accelerometer sensor, a developer should use MSP430 experimenter's board+PAN1315 kit

instead of EZ430-RF2560 development tool, because EZ430-RF2560 SDK does NOT provide adequate API functions to let a developer implement application programs to

access the accelerometer sensor?

Hi William,

TI supplies the HAL files in source for both EZ430-RF2560 and MSP430 experimenter's board.
You can develop your application on any of the kits.

I want to highlight that the EZ430-RF2560 accelerometer (CMA3000-D01) is I2C based, while the MSP430 experimenter's board default accelerometer (ADXL322)
is analog based.
In addition, EZ430-RF2560 accelerometer supports 3-axis, while the MSP430 experimenter's board default accelerometer supports 2-axis.
The MSP430 experimenter's board has an assembly provision for ADXL330 device to support 3-axis.

I've got RF2560 but accelerometer onboard is analogic. Why?

For accelerometer-only interface code (no BT) you should check out the examples for the CC2530ZNP, as it too uses the MSP430. I wrote those examples, and there are a few there that interface with the same accelerometer.
