Q: FAQ: SmartRF Studio and testing with custom register settings

Running [SmartRF Studio => Normal View] tests with custom/own register settings.

It is possible to run [SmartRF Studio => Normal View] tests with custom/own register settings:

  1. Select the desired test in [Normal View], for instance [Packet TX].
  2. Click the [Reset and Write settings] button to reset the chip, and write all entries to the associated chip registers.
  3. Click the [Copy settings to register view] button to write all entries to the associated edit-fields in [Register View]. This step does not write to the chip.
  4. Go to [Register view] and update/edit the required register. Remember to click the [Write] button to load the new value into the chip.
  5. Go back to [Normal View] and the desired test panel. Check the [manual init] box. This is very important. This means that the registers have been "manually" set and SmartRF Studio should not change any register values when the test is started.
  6. Click the [Start] button to execute the customized test.

Remark:
Some registers will be forced to a fixed value by the Software on the evaluation board.
The applicable register values are indicated with "forced" on the right side of the panel.
See user manual for further details.
