TMDSPLCKIT-V3 compatible with F28335 control cards or not?

Hello, I am newbie using C2000 microcontrollers.
My little experience is using the F28335 Delfino Control Card.
Now, I am trying to develop an PLC application and I am planning to adquire 2 TMDSPLCKIT-V3 in order to develop and test my application.
I have read that this V3 version kit contains the TMS320F28069 Piccolo controlCard and the firmware is based in some libraries that need a module called "Viterbi" that is available in the F28069 microcontrollers.
I do not know what Viterbi module is.
My question is: If I develop some applicattion with this V3 Kit with its F28069 control cards, Is easy to migrate my application to implement it with F28335 Control Cards?.
I do not know if this Viterbi module is a limitation for the design with F28335 or perhaps, Are the libraries compatibles for both micros (F28069 & F28335)?.
I have read something abour the old V2 version of this TMDSPLCKIT. It seems that in previous version, some F28335 control cards are included with the kit. So, I do not know if this F28335 card is or not is compatible with the applicacion development for this PLC KIT.
      Someone can help me!!

      Hi Francisco,

To migrate your application, the only thing you need to check is the APIs used for the F28069 and F28335.For the V3 kit, we only did a small change on the APIs (mostly HAL APIs) and so it would be easy to migrate your application to F28069 or F28335. In addition, you don't need to worry about the Viterbi because the Viterbi is an internal module hidden from the interface.

Please, check the API documents we are providing under the directory of C:\Texas Instruments\PrimeDevelopmentPackageV6000\doc.

      Thank you.

Hi Francisco, I am a newcomer to electronics world. I will do my BSc Thesis on this particular TMDSPLCKIT-V3. I don't even know which documents I should read where i should start from and so on. Can you tell me which software I should learn or what documents I should read. I'd truly appreciate any help you can give.

      Hi,

Please, visit www.ti.com/plc and check out the plc package (prime or G3). Once installing the package, you can find all the documents, project examples, and hw schematics in the install directory. It will be good to start with user guide in doc directory.

      Regards,

      Wonsoo

       Hi Kim,

I've been reading prime allince draft specification and try to learn something in vain. Actually what i'm going to do is a company-B.S. degree joint project . I don't have this PLC-DK it belongs to the company but I should learn something to make an application in electrical smart metering for the company also making my B.S. thesis. Would you recommend any book or should i go back to prime development package. Besides I would like to use ac outlets and existing ac wiring in my thesis presentation to make it more appealing. Is it possible with this PLC development kit?

      Ismail,

Please, check out our latest f/w package from www.ti.com/plc. Once installing the package, you will see all the documents in doc directory. I think that it would be good to start with those document.

      Regards,

      Wonsoo

I cannot find any f/w package at www.ti.com/plc . Can you please give me the direct link? By the way, what does f/w package stand for?

      Ismail,

      f/w stands for firmware.

The software downloads at the bottom of www.ti.com/plc is what Wonsoo is describing.

      Thank you,
      Brett

        Hi Brett,

I've got this TMDSPLCKIT-V3. I've been working on it for a few weeks. When I was upgrading Flash Firmware of one of the two modems from prime to g3 I think the flash is erased but did not get upgraded with g3. The red led3 and the green led5 is not blinking. Only power leds are on. When i'm trying to upgrade it says

Sending Firmware Flash BOF Message time out Retry Attempt 0... Mesage time out Retry Attempt 3 and then eventually it says flash aborting msg retries exceeded.

Is there any solution that you can recommend?

      Thank you,

      Ismail

      Hi Ismail,

I think that the f/w on the control card is missing flashing f/w module. I guess that you have already installed the prime package from www.ti.com/plc. Please, flash prime_iec432_f2806x_image.hex which including the flashing module (C:\Texas Instruments\PrimeDevelopmentPackageV6005\SW\bin) on the control card. To flash the hex f/w, You can refer to Appendix G in PRIME_UG.pdf (C:\Texas Instruments\PrimeDevelopmentPackageV6005\doc). Then, upgrading f/w via GUI should work. Thank you.

      Regards,

      Wonsoo

I remember I got PLC qm worked but I can't find out how I did it. I know that PLC quality monitor is host tool so it's about data concentrators and all. I am working this week on appendix C now and wondering whether the data concentrator is one of the things that we have in the PLC DK or is it an oscilloscope-like thing? Thanks in advance. See you next week.

      Hi Rajarajan,

The PLC Quality Monitor is obsolete and is no longer supported. The PLC Quality Monitor was limited to com ports numbered 1-9 (one of the reasons it was obsolete). The Zero Config GUI (ZCG) completely replaces the PLC Quality Monitor.

      Regards,

      Wonsoo

      Ismail,

I believe you have checked out PRIME package v6.0.0.5 from our website and we are not providing the PLC quality monitor (old gui). Instead, from the package, you can find our new GUI (zero-configuration GUI). The data concentrator means base node in PLC network. I am sorry but I didn't get your point. Could you please clarify your questions? Appendix C in PRIME_UG.pdf?

      Thanks.

      Wonsoo
