Hi community

I have a question about FDLOG and CMD

If I want to log 2000 signed float data (float32), how should I modify the "length" on this cmd line:

"RAMGS8      : origin = 0x014000, length = 0x001000"

I mean, 2000 float32 needs how much length?

regards

  • The memory length in the linker command file is specified in 16-bit words.  Each float data point is 32-bit, so occupies two 16-bit words in memory.  2000 floats will take up 4000 16-bit words, or 0x0FA0 such words, so your log will fit in RAMGS8 on this device.  You do not need to modify this line, but you do need to ensure it is in PAGE 1 in the MEMORY part of your linker file.

You should map your data log section into RAMGS8 in the SECTIONS part of the file using something like this:

    DataLogSection : > RAMGS8, PAGE = 1 align(2)

    I hope this helps.

    Regards,

    Richard

    Thanks for reply
So, a memory block with a length of 1000 can contain 500 float32 data. is it correct?

    Yes, that's correct.
