Interfacing a Parallel Port on an EVAL-AD2S1210 to the eZdsp TMS320F28335

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320F28335

I'm trying to connect an EVAL-AD2S1210 resolver to digital board to an eZdsp which has a TMS320F28335. I want to connect the two boards using the EVAL-AD2S1210's parallel port, but I'm not sure what connections to use on the eZdsp. The parallel port on the EVAL-AD2S1210 is a 26 way connector.

Has anyone ever made this type of connection before? Would anyone know how to do this type of interfacing?

I'm thinking that I need to use the expansion ports on the eZdsp in some way - possibly the P10, P2 or P8 expansions?

  • I think i figured it out:

I need to use the P2 expansion interface, where the XD0-XD15 locations are for data, and XA0-XA15 locations are for the address. Also, the zone 0, 6, or 7 spot is chosen with the XZCS0n pin. Finally, XREADY, XRDn, WE0n, and XCLKOUT are all needed for correct parallel interfacing as well.

Does anyone have any further insight about this topic?

  • I'm sure someone out there has done something similar to this before, but I can't say for certain.  Do you need the speed a parallel interface would provide or can you make due with a slightly slower serial interface?  The resolver supports a standard SPI interface which would greatly simplify evaluation of the device.

Interfacing with the parallel interface on the F28335 should be possible.  The address and data line should be shared.  Take a look at page 24:

and also please take a look at the XINTF guide in the F28335 product folder.
