I am trying to program a F28035 ISO Control Card, initially using one of the example projects, but I keep getting the error below (or error -1041). I'm using CCS v4.2.5 to connect to the control card, I have tried changing the TRSTn to On and the boot switches in wait and default but I always get the same error. Any ideas?

C28xx: Error connecting to the target: (Error -1135 @ 0x0) The emulator reported an error. Confirm emulator configuration and connections, reset the emulator, and retry the operation. (Release 5.0.429.0)

Check to see if the FTDI chip is programmed to be an XDS100 emulator. Sometimes the manufacturer doesn't program, or doesn't program correctly.

Attached is MPROG which can be used (instructions included).

It shouldn't matter how the boot mode switches are set, once you plug in the USB cable JTAG should be able to take over.

I'd already tried that, did it again anyway but still no joy! Just to check, connected to USB on control card, TRSTn in on and boot doesn't matter.

So MPROG showed a programmed device?

Do you have the CCS emulator set-up correctly (XDS100v1 and the F28035)?

I've tried XDS100v1 and XDS100v2 with the TMS320F28035 selected with no joy. I even grabbed the card out of a HVBLPFCKIT that I have had working with it's GUI and it will not connect either.

do you have the XDS100 drivers installed through CCS? They should be there unless you did a customer install and didn't choose them.

Since you have two different cards with this behavior, and you can connect at least one of them through UART (which means the FTDI chip is programmed) it seems this is the likely answer.

I assume the baseboards are set to properly power the controlCARD per the Getting Started guide for each kit?

Sounds like it could be a power problem. Can you verify you see any lights when you have the cable connected?

Hello,

I have the exact same issue. Brand new HVBLPFCKIT kit and I always get Error -1135.

if you aren't able to connect to the emulator it is one of several things
1. the MCU and/or the FTID emulator chip are not powered. Could be because of the bus power or because they are isolated from the USB power you are providing, depending on how you are using the controlCARD and with which kit
2. the FTDI chip is not programmed as a TI XDS100 emulator correctly. You can check this and reprogram with the MPROG program as described here:
