Dear all,
am working on TMS320F28335 controller,
how do i configure clock frequency for eCAP ?
what is the maximum and minimum clock frequency we can configure or derive for eCAP ?
Please help . . .
Thanks and Regards
N Reddy
Hello,
eCAP is clocked by SYSCLKOUT. I do not believe there are dividers within the module for reducing the clocking frequency to the peripheral.

Dear Mr. Kris
Thank you for your immediate response,
I have one more question, if my input signal to the eCAP is very high so i can use PRE-SCALAR option, if it is too low then how do i make it to synchronize with the SYSCLKOUT to capture. Will the input signal to eCAP synchronize automatically with SYSCLKOUT clock frequency or we need to set manually?
please clarify my doubt ....
Since the eCAP is clocked by SYSCLKOUT, the input will be synchronized automatically. Note that a minimum pulse width detectable by the eCAP is defined in the datasheet for this reason.
Dear Mr.Kris,
Thank you very much. So, i can not use eCAP for smaller frequencies.
for example, 100kHz input signal to eCAP, (SYSCLKOUT minimum frequency is 2MHz and Maximum is 150MHz from the datasheet ),
in this situation i cant use eCAP for capturing ?
The eCAP registers are clocked by SYSCLKOUT. The eCAP works by capturing a pulse edge and latching a counter value (clocked by SYSCLKOUT) when the edge is seen. This is a 16 bit counter, so it is capable of capturing frequencies well below SYSCLK.
I recommend reading the eCAP user's guide to familiarize yourself with the peripheral.
