HVMotor Control +PFC Kit: Disconnection to GUI

Hi, I am using the High voltage ctrl+PFC developer's kit.

I have already installed the XDS100 on my computer(XP System) and I could find 2 connection ports: COM1 & COM12 in "Setup Connection" .

However, the GUI used to revealed the information:"Could Not Connect: Please Check Connections" after I plugged the AC power.

LD1 of control card was lighted but LD2 wasn't. LD3 just blinked a while after the board powered up.

What could be the problem?

.

  • Hi Jerry,

What board revision of the TMDSHVMTRPFCKIT do you have?  R5 or R1.1?  You should be able to figure out by looking at the silkscreen of the kit.

R5 is designed to work with the GUI in the v1.7 folder.  This seems to be the GUI that you are using.

R1.1 (R11) is designed to work with the GUI in the v2.1 folder.

    Thank you,
    Brett

  • Hi Brett , the kit's version of mine is R5 correctly so I used the GUI V1.7.
  • Hi Jerry,

OK, it looks like you are using the correct GUI.  Based on your pictures above, the USB-to-SCI serial bridge seems to be working correctly too.

    I have a few comments:

    1. In your first post you said that, "LD3 just blinked a while after the board powered up".  Are you saying that LD3 stopped blinking at some point?  If so, when? Or am I misunderstanding?
      1. If LD3 is blinking, the F28035 is running code.  This is good.
    2. In the first picture of your first post, the GUI is showing that it will attempt to use COM12, but the GUI seems to have only found COM1 (because only COM1 is shown in the lower-left box in that window).  When you click "Refresh Comports" does COM12 ever show up in that lower-left box?
    3. The other thing I would do is check that the hardware setup is correct.  Can you check to see if the jumper/switch settings are correct (as in page 3 & 4 of the QSG-HVMTRPFCKIT-GUIv1.pdf guide)?
      1. I would especially look to see if [M3]-J4 is populated based on what you are seeing.

    Thank you,
    Brett
