PWM Generation using TMS320F28335 and CCSv6

Hi,

I want to generate PWM using and TMS320F28335 and Code Composer Studio (v 6.1.0) and analyse the same using oscilloscope.

Can someone please help me on this.

Hi,

First of all you need to install controlSuite. After doing so you can directly navigate to :
C:\ti\controlSUITE\device_support\f2833x\v140\DSP2833x_examples_ccsv5\epwm_up_aq

for ePWM based sample code in up counting mode.
All you need to do is import this project from CCS -> Project -> Import Project option.

Hi,

I would recommend that you download and install controlSUITE which provides most of C2000's code examples and kit collateral.

Once installed, I'd recommend looking in the following directory for an ePWM example:
\controlSUITE\device_support\f2833x\

I imported the project and was able to build the same.

Could you please let me know the procedure on how to dump this build on TMS320F28335F using JTAG emulator.

Hi Vinay,

You simply have to debug the project. Debug will take care of dumping the out file to the target.

That is fine. But now I am encountering another issue. Could you please throw some light on that.

Error connecting to the target:
(Error - 1155 @ 0x0)
Device may be operating in low-power mode. Reset the device, and retry the operation. If error persists, confirm configuration, power-cycle the board, and/or try more reliable JTAG settings (e.g. lower TCLK).

I've reset the device but still seeing this issue.

This error would be coz of your improper target configuration. Check for the .ccxml file, if you don't have one included you'll have to add the same. You can go to Windows -> Show View -> Target Configuration and then Add a New configuration file.

You didn't reply to my previous question? Is it a development kit or a custom board? Please check the voltage level around the board and XRS pin status.
Also, check your boot pin status.

It is a custom board. We made a PCB with TMS320F28335 as one of its components.

Could you please let me know how to check XRS pin status and boot pin status? Voltage level is 5V.

XRSn should be pulled high with 2.2k resistor, TRSTn is pulled low with 3k resistor.

Boot Pin:

I hope you know that F28335 functions at 3.3V and not 5V logic and hence a 3.3V regulator should be present after 5V.

With the 3.3V logic and pull up and pull down resistors, that error is resolved. Thank you!

When do we get to know that the program is loaded on the hardware? Because when I click on debug it is showing as "running" and stays here for so much time. Will there be any message showing that the build is loaded on the device?

The Green Play symbol would be highlighted when the loading is done. All you've to do is press this button for the program execution.
