JTAG-INTERFACE for the TMS320F28335 - PIN SETTINGS

I was wondering if it is possible to use the JTAG interface of the TMS320F28335 for other purposes.
The interface presently uses 6 pins (EMU1, EMU0, TRST, TDI, TDO and TCK) and I don't know if the DSP is able to read any of those pins.
Is there any associated register or memory location that can be used to see the status of those pins?

I have a board that has a connector for the JTAG and we would like to add a small daughter board that connects to the same connector and avoid having to spin a new board
The idea is to able to pass a signal from one board to another using any of the pins used for the JTAG.
