Hi all,

I am trying to access TMS320F28027F MCU using XDS100v2 JTAG Emulator (TMDSEMU100V2U-20T) with the 20-pin compact TI connector.

I did the connection exactly like the configuration on the page:

for single device Non-buffered configuration and connect emu pins with pull up resistors like what recommended in the TMS320F28027F datasheet section 6.6 , also I tried the other JTAG signals (TCK,TDI,TDO) with and without external pull-up/pull-down resistors.

But always i get the same error when starting the debug session as in the following photo:-

Hi Amr,

So this is a custom board? Also, did you refer the launchpad schematics for the JTAG connection other than the above link?

Hi Amr,

Also, please take note of the warning at the beginning of your console's output. I would recommend that you try and edit the project's settings/target configuration so that this warning goes away.
(while the F28027F and F28027 are almost identical, CCS is noticing the difference and therefore this difference may be a part of your problem)

I tried also the hardware configuration for the JTAG connection like the one in the launchpad, noting that in the launchpad it's through isolation. gave the same error.

I can't find F28027F in the target configuration drop list, only F28027 ?

AMR you can find the target configuration file here:
C:\ti\motorware\motorware_1_01_00_1x\sw\ide\ccs\ccs5\targetConfigs

Also, there's no separate device in CCS for F28027F.

Could you please tell me what could be the possible causes for this error to check what problems i am experiencing with my board?

Exactly, the device can be actually locked. Any power interruption during erase process can lock your device. Did anything similar happen?
Else, check the JTAG connectivity.

No power interruption happened and I changed the MCU to see if the problem in the mcu but the same error happens.

I tried two configurations for the JTAG connection , the one like in the launchpad , and the one like in xds100 reference connection for 20-pin header.

Does that mean the mcu is locked and need to be replaced or what ? I replaced it and same error happens?

Also does this error has anything related to the CCS license, I am currently using the evaluation licensing?

If you've already tried replacing mcu and still you're facing this issue then this seems to be a JTAG issue. JTAG Connection or debugger issue.
About the licensing, I hope you're using Free License.

I am using the 90 days evoultion cope because the free license only works with the launchpads in-circuit XDS100 JTAG emulators ? so I chosed the evaluatioin option to work with the TMDSEMU100V2U-20T ?

Free license is applicable for for TMDSEMU100V2U-20T too. Anyways, as "Evaluation license" is activated you don't have to worry about licensing.
