Hello everybody,

We just got the TMDSPLCV3KIT the last week. I'm absolute beginner with this kit and I already have some questions.

Hope someone could help me to become more familiar with.

I'm using the two modules with the same laptop and two different GUI windows:

1)my Zero Configuration GUI version is 2.94. How I can get the lastet one?

2) I'm not able to understand why my G3 PLC Initialization fails? (below the log data)

    Hi Emilio,

    1. you could find the lastest version of the GUI in the package 7.5.1.10 found in the link below.
    www.ti.com/.../tmdsplckit-v3 ( under Software)

    2. which version of firmware are you using ?
    Did you try restarting the modem ? do you see the same issue of " initialisation failure "?

    3. is the default Diagnostic and data port SCI A ? if not make it SCI A using ctrl + A and check if msg is delivered .

    thanks a lot for your reply, sorry for my late reply.
    At moment I'm not in the lab (on holiday) but:
    1) I'm using Zero Configuration GUI Version 2.94 with G3_SDK_Package_V7_5_1_10 firmware.
    2) I tried restarting the modem but the problems continue to occure
    3) i'm using SCI-B config. (both diagnostic and data). Isn't SCI-A for serial port connection?

    As soon as I'll restart to work with the modems I'll give you more info.

    1) from the above log attached the firmware version shows

    As part of the package we provide ZCG version 2.103 and not 2.94. and firmware version 7.5.1.10..
    could you reflash the firmware provided and use the ZCg as given in the package.

    2)
    Yes, the USB cable is (SCI-B for V3 kit and SCI-A for V4 kit). but i wanted to check in case the serial port of using SCI A with the serial cable works on your kit instead.
    could you confirm if you are using www.ti.com/.../tmdsplckit-v3 or www.ti.com/.../tmdsplckitv4-cen ?

    ideally, for the tmdsplckit-v3 kit the SCI B should be used .

    Hi Meghana,

    1) I never flashed the firmware (actually I tried more and more times to flash the firmware -via Intermediate GUI, no CCS- but I failed),
    the firware version is the "originale" one.
    Maybe I downloaded this 2.94 version, not sure that I have 2.103 one (in case is possible to get it??

    2) As soon as I'll be in the lab I'll try to use the SCI-A port with the serial cable.
    I'm using tmdsplckit-v3

    Hi Emilio,

    1) In case you are not able to flash the firmware using intermediate gui , please try to use any .hex or .out flashing tool like uniflash or CCS or C2prog.

    the instructions for the same can be found in the TI G3 User Guide-Flashing Firmware.pdf document that comes as part of the software package .

    The 2.103 ZCG  is also part of the same package under "Tools" > ZeroConfiguration_Setup

    Thanks again for your support; I'm back in the lab and I tried some of your suggestions:

    1) using the SCI A (serial port) the module doesn't work as well.
    I attached the log text for both the cases (serial and usb ports - SCI A and SCI B)
    --->G3 PLC Initialization Failed

    We can deduce that the USB port is not the problem (?).


    2) I checked my tmdsplckit-v3 package; I found only one file in the USB stick memory:

    "TexasInstruments_PRIME_DDKPackageV7_9_1_0.exe"

    I have installed this software: the ZCG version is 2.103 and not 2.94.
    I have downloaded the "G3 SDK Development Package (v7.5.1.10) (F28PLC83) (Rev. A)" from TI Website
    and the GUI version is the same (2.94). Where I could find the 2.103 version?
    The firmware you provided (in the package) is PRIME version but I found G3 flashed in the cards by default.

    3) I've just taken a look at your suggested software package: www.ti.com/.../TI-PLC-G3-CENELEC-SN
    I'm wondering if these files (G3-PLC standard for narrowband OFDM Power Line Communications for F28PLC83,
    G3-PLC standard for narrowband OFDM Power Line Communications for F28PLC84) are ok for my cards microcontroller:
    TMS320 980 F28069 UPZT...


    I'm going to try to flash the cards right now.

    Hi Emilio,

    please flash the G3-PLC standard for narrowband OFDM Power Line Communications for F28PLC83 onto the C2000 control card that comes as part of the V3 kit .
